Following the receipt of the plan amendment approval from the Mining Authority in Stralsund, NEL Gastransport GmbH, a subsidiary of GASCADE Gastransport GmbH, is entering the construction phase for the planned Wittenburg compressor station. According to the company, the facility in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will make a significant contribution to increasing transport capacity along the Nordeuropäische Erdgasleitung (NEL) and thereby strengthen security of supply in eastern Germany as well as in southeastern Europe. The planned capacity expansion includes three compressor units.

Managing Director Christoph von dem Bussche stated that the plan amendment approval now allows construction to begin promptly. A modern plant design combined with comprehensive mitigation measures is intended to ensure efficient and environmentally compatible operation of the facility.
