Infener AG and Nevius GmbH have signed a Letter of Intent(LOI), laying the foundation for a sustainable and decentralised hydrogen supply in theOrtenau region. The agreement targets the delivery of several tonnes of green hydrogenannually, produced locally at Infener’s planned H2 production facilities in Villingen-Schwenningen and Gengenbach.
This collaboration unites two energy pioneers: Infener, a leader in decentralised andsustainable hydrogen solutions across Europe, and Nevius, a specialist in liquefied gassupply with over 35 years of experience. Infener will produce green hydrogen on-site at itsplanned H2 hubs, while Nevius will distribute the hydrogen to regional mid-sized industrialcompanies. The hydrogen will be transported by truck over short distances, reducingreliance on centralised networks and providing a cost-effective alternative to expensivepipelines.
“Our partnership with Nevius demonstrates how regional players can collaborate to drive theenergy transition. Through our H2 hubs, we are creating a future-proof and resilient supply ofgreen hydrogen that is both ecologically and economically sustainable. Tomorrow's energysystem will be diverse—built on a core network complemented by decentralised production,”said Joel Vogl, CEO of Infener.
Günter Cottin, Managing Director of Nevius, added: “Transitioning to hydrogen is the nextlogical step in deepening our commitment to clean and cost-efficient energy supply. Ourcustomers in the Ortenau and Black Forest regions will benefit from a sustainable alternativethat is locally produced and highly flexible.”
This agreement marks the initial step towards a binding offtake contract with definedvolumes. Through this partnership, Infener and Nevius are setting a strong precedent for asuccessful, resilient, economical, and sustainable energy supply in the Ortenau region.
