Bavaria's State Secretary for Economic Affairs Tobias Gotthardt has signed a joint work plan for cooperation with representatives from politics and the hydrogen industry. This laid an important foundation stone for networking between Bavaria and Egypt. “It's a match! The joint work plan between Bavaria and Egypt is an important step towards advancing hydrogen as a key technology of the future,” said Gotthardt. “With Bavaria's expertise in research and technology, we can support Egypt in building modern hydrogen infrastructures. At the same time, Egypt's great potential for green hydrogen opens up new opportunities for the Bavarian economy - be it in imports or in the development of joint projects. Hydrogen connects - as a driver of innovation and as a motor for the future of Bavaria and Egypt.”

The Egyptian markets play a central role for the Bavarian economy.

The geographical proximity to the European Union and the good conditions for the production of green hydrogen are significant. At the same time, the Egyptian government is pursuing ambitious plans to promote the country's economic growth. In July 2024, Egypt was awarded the first contract by the H2Global Foundation to supply green ammonia to Germany.Around 260,000 tons are to be exported between 2027 and 2033.

The trade volume between Bavaria and Egypt amounts to 618 million Euros.
