Green hydrogen is now available at the H2 MOBILITY station in Erlangen, produced and supplied by Tyczka Hydrogen. Additional hydrogen stations in Bavaria, including those in Biebelried, Fürth, and Pentling, will soon receive deliveries as well. This milestone brings H2 MOBILITY closer to its goal of offering 100% green hydrogen across its entire filling station network by 2028.
The hydrogen station in Erlangen, one of the most frequently used stations in the H2 MOBILITY network, is particularly popular with heavy-duty vehicles. Starting now, the station will be supplied with green hydrogen produced through electrolysis using renewable energy. Following Erlangen, additional H2 MOBILITY stations in Bavaria, including Biebelried, Fürth, and Pentling, will also begin receiving green hydrogen soon.
Clear Goal: 100% Green Hydrogen
“To make a real contribution to decarbonizing road transport, we have set the ambitious goal of switching entirely to green hydrogen from renewable energy sources by 2028. Supplying the Erlangen hydrogen station with renewable hydrogen is a major achievement and marks the beginning of further supply agreements with Tyczka Hydrogen,” said Frank Fronzke, Managing Director and COO of H2 MOBILITY.
“We are delighted to count Europe’s leading public hydrogen filling station network among our customers—starting in our home state of Bavaria is particularly special. We greatly value the professional collaboration with the H2 MOBILITY team and look forward to finalizing additional supply agreements,” added Thomas Zorn, Managing Director and COO of Tyczka Hydrogen.
Once certification under the EU Delegated Regulation for “renewable fuels of non-biogenic origin” (RFNBO) becomes available, the hydrogen supplied by Tyczka Hydrogen will receive RFNBO certification.
The station serves business customers in the region, particularly from the logistics and waste management sectors. Customers include hylane, a provider of hydrogen truck rentals and operator of Europe’s largest hydrogen-powered truck fleet (currently Hyundai Xcient Fuel Cell 4×2 and 6×2 vehicles).
