AGRAVIS Raiffeisen Tankstellen GmbH, a subsidiary of AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG, and REMONDIS GmbH & Co. KG (Region West) are joining forces to advance alternative fuels in heavy-duty transport. The two companies have signed a cooperation agreement to use Bio-CNG in waste collection vehicles operated by the REMONDIS Group. These trucks will refuel at the Raiffeisen station on Industrieweg in Münster, where AGRAVIS plans to install an additional compressor station and a CNG pump specifically for trucks by spring 2025.
Bio-CNG: An Environmentally Friendly Alternative
"Across the group, AGRAVIS is making significant efforts to contribute effectively to achieving climate goals. Therefore, we are more than happy to expand our range of environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional diesel fuel," explains Oliver Korting, Head of the Energy Division at AGRAVIS. Cars have been able to refuel with Bio-CNG at the Raiffeisen station for quite some time, and soon heavy-duty trucks will also be able to do so with much greater ease. "This is a significant investment," adds Korting. "It's great to have REMONDIS as a key customer on board early in the process."
Fleet Expansion
"We are grateful to AGRAVIS for creating the necessary infrastructure at its Münster location," says Tobias Stehling, Branch Manager at REMONDIS in Münster. "Currently, we operate more than 20 CNG vehicles in Münster and the surrounding area, and we plan to gradually expand our fleet in the coming years," Stehling adds.
Strategic Partnership in the Münsterland Region
Bio-CNG is compressed biomethane, nearly CO2-neutral, and classified as an advanced fuel. AGRAVIS already produces biomethane from manure and slurry in its subsidiary Terrasol Wirtschaftsdünger GmbH in Dorsten, and starting in February 2025, production will also begin in Velen. The facility in Velen is operated by Bioenergie Velen GmbH, a consortium that includes the REMONDIS Group. "We are delighted to further develop this strategic partnership with the concrete project in Münster," agree Oliver Korting and Tobias Stehling.
Cooperation Until 2033
The Bio-CNG cooperation agreement is initially valid until the end of 2033 and may be expanded in the future to include additional AGRAVIS locations and other REMONDIS Group companies.
